I finished Rebecca last night. I struggled through the first half for about a week and couldn't find time to really sit down and take it in. I picked it up again last night at 10:30; bad idea. The story really started to roll and I was sucked in.
Four and a half hours later I'd conquered the last half of the book and was ridiculously mad at the ending. I couldn't make sense of it! I must have read the last page ten times and I couldn't understand what happened.
They say you should never go to bed angry. I went to bed steaming that I'd spent the last 4.5 hours reading a book with a stupid ending instead of sleeping.
I got a chance at lunch just now to read the last page again and it suddenly became very clear what happened. Took long enough for that lightbulb to come on! Still, I wish Du Maurier had tied off more ends that I feel were left hanging. I love having all loose ends tied securely at the end of a book.
Seriously though, I really shouldn't be reading at 3 am.
Has anyone else finished it? What'd you think?

Poor, poor Lindsey. You really shouldn't read at 3 a.m. I didn't have a problem with understanding the ending (surprisingly). Everyone knows the butler did it! hahaha
